Angus Canmore was the great-grandfather of
Fiona and
Jackson Canmore. In the 19th Century he wrote a book about
gargoyles painting a grim picture of them. This indicates that he was either a
Hunter himself or was at least influenced by his family's negative view of gargoyles.
